Growing up during the civil war in former Yugoslavia, I understand the complexities of identity, anxiety, and trauma. After immigrating to the US, I obtained two B.A. degrees with highest honors.
I am a licensed therapist, and I hold a master's degree in mental health counseling and an advanced degree in counseling psychology from Columbia University.
Through my lens of literature and story telling, I see everyone's life story as a unique narrative that can evolve to match one's ideal experience and self. My years of experience as a crisis counselor, trainer and supervisor, and in assertive behavioral health treatment of substance use, addiction, and chronic mental illness have given me a results-oriented approach to therapy and equipped me with the skills to help my clients effectively manage life crises, relapses, transitions, and struggles.
Having immigrated to the US over 20 years ago, I am keenly attuned to issues of immigration, acculturation, and navigating multiple cultures.
My experiences have contributed to my philosophy that stepping out of our comfort zones is crucial to pursuing our passions and creating a meaningful life. Utilizing an integrative approach of evidence-based treatments, I create a unique therapy tailored to your needs, and foster a therapeutic relationship where we can relieve your distress and accomplish the changes you desire toward the life you envision.
